André-Léon Larue

1785 - 1834

Born in Nancy, son of Jaques Larue, a portrait painter. After having lessons from his father he became the pupil of Isabey. He published Letters on the Art of Miniature Painting, first in English in 182; it was published in French in 1823 and in German in 1824. He spent some time in England and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1829 and 1831. He is not known to have worked after 1834.
