b. 1983 (Grancy, Switzerland)

Raised in the Swiss mountains and influenced by her natural surroundings, Claudia Comte makes geometric abstractions that operate between two and three dimensions. In her shaped canvases, sculptures and site-specific installations, she uses traditional materials and a simplified visual language to render complex optical and psychological effects. Comte has exhibited around the world, including at Desert X AlUla, Saudi Arabia (2022); Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid, Spain (2021); Copenhagen Contemporary, Denmark (2019); MOCA Cleveland (2018); and the Public Art Fund, New York (2016). The artist currently lives and works in the countryside outside of Basel, Switzerland.
