Eleanor Johnson

1994 - Present

Eleanor Johnson is an artist based in London, UK (b.1994).

Her work considers the intangible zone between absence and presence – both visually, physically and psychologically. Thematically, the body and nature dominate as subjects in her work, best outlined in a recent series named “Modern Bathers”, in which these two entities and their fluctuating, ancient relationship is explored. These “imagined compositions” show visual fragments of Old Master paintings, mingled with images of Johnson’s own, creating scenes that imply an anachronistic idyll reworked into a contemporary context.

Johnson graduated from University College London with a BA in History of Art in 2017 and is currently undertaking an MA in Fine Art at City & Guilds of London Art School.

She has exhibited internationally and competed in this year’s “Sky Portrait Artist of the Year”.
