Kath O'Reilly

Kath O’Reilly has returned to her first love of art, many years after training as a ceramicist, running a photographic gallery and business with her husband, and working as a chef. Her other interests are now mainly craft based, including designing and making clothes, patchwork, rag rugs, knitting, crochet and baking, to mention a few.

Moving to Scotland two and a half years ago allowed her the freedom to pursue her love of abstract painting, although sometimes drifting into more a realistic, style, which is how “Petals in the Wind” was created. Kath works predominately in acrylics on canvas, most of her work being in this medium, often incorporating collage, but is also exploring inks, printing and cold wax and oil. Whilst refining “Petals in the Wind”, it became quite an emotional work, thinking of all the lives forever lost through war. Thus it was an easy decision to donate the proceeds to COMBAT STRESS, it’s a charity very close to her, and her son-in-law’s heart. Simon is a retired army officer, and climbed Everest (from the Chinese side) a few years ago to raise funds for this charity.
