Peeter Laurits

1962 - Present

Born in Tallinn, Estonia, Peeter Laurits studied photography at the Tallinn 2nd Technical School (1982-83) and later at the International Center of Photography in New York (1991-92). An active artist for over twenty years, he came to be one of Estonia's leading photographers in the 1980s and 1990s. During the latter decade he was the co-founder of the group DeStudio, which gained attention in Estonia and abroad for work that incorporated images from mass media sources. Since 1997 Laurits has lived and worked in the forests of Vorumaa in Estonia.
