Grande disco

This is one of the most significant works of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s artistic career who sought to give the sculpture an idea of twist that would make it more alive and represent the proportion of man that Leonardo inscribed in the circle. The Grande disco (Great disk) is, in fact, built out from the central point in a way that the fulcrum or pivot is the head, with the legs and the arms open, so as to create an effect of expansion. Its location in Piazza Meda, in the centre of Milan, is particularly successful: it is in a vital part of the city and in this represents its dynamism, optimism and solar strength.
