Box camera

Unknown Maker

Linley owned a number of different cameras including several folding bellows stand cameras for glass plate negatives such as this. Stand cameras could be used for a variety of different types of photographs from landscapes to portraiture. Linley probably used this camera to take photographs for his Punch cartoons, either in the backyard of his house, at his friend Edwin Austen Abbey’s studio or at the Camera Club.
