Coalport  (John Rose) China plates

These highly decorative (John Rose) botanical plates are each painted with a different specimen flower within pink garlanded rose and leaf borders and gilt rim.

The flowers in the centre of the plates were painted by Lady Amelia Sophia Murray, a talented artist and daughter of the 4th Duke of Atholl. She went onto marry James Andrew Drummond, 6th Viscount Strathallan.

John Rose was one of the founders of the famous Coalport porcelain. Similar plates can be found in Geoffrey Gooden's book called Coalport....
