Cora Lee Johnson

Cora Lee Johnson is a social activist who was recognized by a national magazine as a “hero for hard times.” After she learned about government services available to poor people through the Georgia Legal Services Group program, she pressured for — and achieved— changes, especially in housing, health, and nutrition. Johnson chaired the Treutlen County Client Council and the Rural Black Women’s Leadership Project.
