The English Parlimentaire goes ashore during the Battle of Copenhagen on 2 April 1801

Around three o'clock, an English Parlimentaire handed over the English admiral Lord Nelson's call to give up the resistance. The fighting then ceased, and negotiations began. The painting shows the Parlimentaire's boat with the white flag at the bow, while an officer is ready to receive the letter and convey it to Crown Prince Frederik (VI), who is seen surrounded by his staff.
