Edouard Suenson, 1805-1887, Commander, later Vice Admiral

Suenson, who had already excelled during the First Schleswig War, was the commander of the North Sea Squadron in 1864. Here, he is depicted standing on the bridge of frigate Niels Juel during the battle of Heligoland on 9 May 1864.
