Els Keezer and Sleeper

Liorah Tchiprout uses oil painting, drawing, etching and monotype to explore themes of belonging, girlhood and the theatrical.

"I build puppet models to work from, which creates a kind of world in between the real and the imagined, to pull images from. This painting is part of a series of Els Keezer, a dancer who featured on the BBC documentary ‘My Family, the Holocaust and Me’. The series is based on recollections of her by those who knew her and drawn from life from the puppet model I made."
