Irving Napier Special - Golden Arrow

At the heart of Golden Arrow was the immensely powerful Napier Lion aero engine. The twelve cylinders were arranged in three banks of four giving a W formation. The designer, Captain Jack Irving, created a futuristic looking aerodynamic body that hugged the engine, reducing the car’s frontal area and giving it its distinctive shape. Golden Arrow’s body was a contrast to the design of current road cars and hinted at the trend towards streamlining that would follow in the next decade.
