Kodanda Rama (Rama holding the bow)
Unknown Artist
Mysuru, Karnataka
The painting depicts Rama, Lakshmana, Sita and Anjaneya (Hanuman). Rama is holding a bow. Versions of this tableau are found in Rama temples and bhajanmathas. Interestingly, the Madhav tilak on Rama's forehead suggests that the patron of this painting was a follower of Madhavacharya (a Vedanta philosopher).
