Sketch model of Perseus, Pegasus and Andromedafor 'Perseus and Andromeda'
The Greek hero Perseus swoops down on his winged horse Pegasus to rescue Andromeda from the clutches of a sea monster.
Lord Leighton used these small models to test out his ideas and compositions for paintings. He moved them around and dressed the figures with cloth to make studies of the way the fabric fell.
