This image is similar to one of twelve lithographs created by Campigli for a special edition of Sappho’s lyric poetry, published in 1944. The work illustrated in the text included an additional figure to the left of the lyre player. The image Weeping is not Allowed, also on display in this room, was created for the same volume.
