The Belvedere

This work was painted two years after Campigli's visit to the collection of Etruscan art at Villa Giulia in Rome, which exerted a strong influence on the artist. This mature style produced archaic inspired forms and a more muted palette of dry, fresco-like paint, as can be seen in The Belvedere.
