Clog with a narrow, slightly rounded toe and ivory silk brocade covering heel and straps, with a design of pink, blue, and purple flowers and green leaves; 1/8" wide cream plain weave silk ribbon binding around straps lined with blue plain weave wool which has mostly worn off; dark brown leather insole; straight last leather sole stops at the heel breast; 2/8" high by 1 7/8"deep stacked heel; 1 3/8" wide cream silk taffeta ribbon tie threaded through eyelet at end of straps.

Provenance Narrative According to the donor this shoe was worn by Dinah Kelton Comstock. She was born Dinah Arnold and her first husband was William Comstock (1708-1745), with whom she had five children. After William died in 1745, Dinah married Joseph Kelton (1723-1756) in 1747. Dinah also wore the quilted petticoat which is accession number 160, and overshoes 159.1. A and.B.
