Portrait of Louisa Moncreiffe

Louisa Moncreiffe (1844-1902), the wife of John, 7th Duke of Atholl, appears in a white dress on a terrace with a landscape view in the distance.

Louisa was one of eight daughters, all of them celebrated Victorian beauties. In the portrait, note the blue ribbons on Louisa’s dress. Blue was her favourite colour and she always tried to have something blue in her outfit, so the Blue Bedroom seems a fitting place for her portrait.

The Duke and Louisa had six children, three girls and three boys, none of whom had children.
