Rainbow Warrior

Few historical references are available to artists creating portraits of Native Americans, aside from the sepia toned photograph collection of Edward Curtis. Chosa begins sketching and building many of his portraits using Curtis’ images, noting that it is a rite of passage. The monotony of sepia is disrupted by intense vibration and expression of color in Rainbow Warrior.
