Safe Word

This work is inspired by the Shibari Japanese bondage art and writings of Marquis de Sade. A safe word is a mutual code word or signal that sex partners agree on in bdsm. It is used by a person to communicate their physical or emotional state, typically when approaching, or crossing, a physical, emotional, or moral boundary when reaching climax. Safe Word represents personal bdsm practices I experienced while suffering from sex addiction. When pain takes over the unsatisfactory sex demands. My art practice has a therapeutic effect on me.
