Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu
The painting depicts Krishna and Satyabhama on the occasion of their wedding. According to legend, Satrajit accused Krishna of possessing his brilliant jewel. When Krishna recovered the jewel and gave it to Satrajit, Krishna was offered the jewel and Satrajit's daughter Satyabhama in marriage. Krishna declined the jewel but accepted to marry Satyabhama.
