Baby shoes

These leather and silk baby shoes were made by Paris designer, Julien Mayer. Mayer was known for his cutwork and embroidered women's slippers which were fashionable in the 1860s and 1870s. These delicate baby shoes echo the women's fashion at the time, with their elaborate bows and embroidery. The shoes were probably worn by Linley and Marion's first child, Maud who was born in 1875.
