Short-necked bottle

The molded decoration, including pairs of simple palmettes arranged one above the other in eight narrow vertical compartments, suggests both a 9th century dating and an Iraqi provenance for this small jar. The impression of an eagle with spread out wings under the base, which is not visible in normal conditions, may be a factory stamp.
