Spherical perforated ornament, possibly belonging to a railing, with inscribed medallions that contain an appeal to the prophet Muhammad and the twelve Shiite Imams. The miniature arabesques that echo manuscript illuminations are characteristic of Safavid metalwork. Iran, 16th c.
