Street on Santorini island

Effie Michelis enjoyed travelling around Greece. She used to take with her sketchbook and pencils and "take notes" of the places she visited. As soon as she returned, she would sit down at her atelier with her canvases and recreate from memory, while consulting her sketches, the villages and landscapes she has visited. This work is a typical example of this process.
