Tissot: Study of Elizabeth Siddall for The Return of Tibullus to Delia
Rossetti made many drawings of his muse, Elizabeth Siddall (1829-1862) such as this tender and delicate study. Largely self-taught, Siddall is now also recognised as a talented poet and artist. Rossetti and Siddall were married in 1860, although by then her health was failing. Siddall’s influence can be found in Rossetti’s painting and poetry long after her tragically early death.
