Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison is one of America’s most celebrated and successful novelists. She was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1988 for her fifth novel, Beloved, and received the National Book Critics Award for Song of Solomon in 1978. She was an editor at Random House for two decades and was the Albert Schweitzer Professor of Humanities at the State University of New York at Albany before assuming the Robert Goheen Professorship in the Humanities Council at Princeton in 1989. Toni Morrison was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature on October 7, 1993, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.
