Manifer

Unknown Artist

Manifer with integral couter for the Gestech, designed to cover the left hand, forearm and elbow. It is rigidly made in one piece, the part covering the fingers being boxed and slightly moulded to suggest the fingers, and the nails indicated by engraving; there are traces of an armourer's mark near the edge, together with the guild mark of Nuremberg. The couter is of three pieces: the middle one over the cubitus being spirally fluted and brought to a point. Screwed on in front is a wing-defence for the elbow-joint, decorated with radiating fluting. The edges are not roped. This manifer, like the jousting armour A23, has been heavily dented by lance blows.
