Pair of Candlesticks, Dutch, c.1650-1700
Raised on a high domed foot which terminates in an octagonal rim. Each foot is formed into two rounded steps richly repousséd with a meander of flowers, foliage and fruit, the rim with formal decoration with leaves. The column of each candlestick is in the form of a baroque twist flaring at the top into a shallow bowl shaped form into which fits a detachable candle-socket and drip pan.
