Unknown man, formerly known as Maurice Greene

Maurice Greene (1696-1755), Composer.

The last two bars of music, top left, are from Greene's Florimel composed 1737(?) for Love's Revenge (or Florimel and Myrtillo). Despite this link, identification of this crudely painted portrait remains uncertain. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
