Women With Children

Rosemary Young first exhibited ‘Women with Children’ in 1955 at her show at the Hanover Gallery alongside the sculptor Robert Clatworthy. Young eventually gave up her own work to concentrate on producing and casting Reg Butler’s bronzes. Butler had been her tutor at the Slade and they eventually married. This sculpture, with its slender and intricate figures, shows Young’s ability to handle material in a fluid and expressionistic manner.
