James Stuart Park

James Stuart Park

1862 - 1933

Park was born of Ayrshire parents who returned to Glasgow when he was a child. He studied at The Glasgow School of Art, and in Paris, under Lefebvre, Corman and Boulanger. At first he devoted himself mainly to figure subjects and portraiture, but is best known as a painter of flowers. He was one of a group of painters associated with the Glasgow School. Park worked chiefly in Glasgow until 1896, when he moved to Kilmarnock.
