They have collaborated as artists since showing identical bodies of work in their concurrent BA degree shows in Newcastle and Dundee respectively in 1989. They were nominated for the Turner Prize in 1999 and have had much acclaim in Europe. Working across photography, moving image and installation, since the 1990s their work has addressed issues of power, control, perspective and the architecture of conflict.
