Jim Richardson is an American photojournalist working primarily for the National Geographic Society and as a social documentary photographer recognized for his explorations of small-town life. He grew up on a farm outside of Belleville, KS and attended Kansas State University in the 1960's. He taught photography at Washburn University in the 1970's. Richardson's first story for the National Geographic appeared in 1984. Since then, he has become one of the magazine's most productive contemporary contributing photographers, with more than 20 stories. Jim lives and works in Lindsborg, KS where his work is featured at his gallery, Small World on Lindsborg's Main Street.
