Joel Moss

Joel was born in Murray, KY. His parents died when he was a teenager, after which he traveled the country by train, ending up in Wallace, KS. He finished high school in Sharon Springs. He received his BA from Fort Hays State University in 1938. He also studied at George Peabody College; University of Southern California; and Columbia University. In 1946, after serving in WWII, he joined the art department at FHSU where he was Chairman of the Department from 1950 until his retirement in 1977. He received the Kansas Governor's Artist in 1981. He passed away in 1989 in Albuquerque, NM.
