Joseph Budko

August 27, 1888 - July 17, 1940

Polish artist known for his work reviving the woodcut as an exciting graphic arts medium. Budko studied art in Germany under Hermann Struck. In 1935, Budko was appointed Director of the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts. In addition to independent pieces of art, Budko illustrated many books, often using Hebrew characters.
