1983 - Present

Lucas Foglia’s project Human Nature (2006-17) reflects the artist’s interest in the impact of humans on the natural world and the ways we have altered the seemingly unalterable. Examining a broad range of themes, from the scientific realities of climate change to poetic longing for the outdoors, the images are nuanced explorations of the forces—internal and external—that both pit us against and bring us closer to nature.

Foglia’s work is in the permanent collections of the Denver Art Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; among others. He received his MFA in photography from Yale University in 2010.
