Mark Flickinger was born in Linwood, CA. He received his BFA (1989) Painting/Drawing - Wichita State University and his MFA (1991) Painting - Henry R. Hope School of Fine Arts, Indiana University. He has been teaching studio classes in Arkansas City since 1993. He was an instructor at Cowley Community College, Arkansas City, KS since 2001 and Art department chair since 2015. He has also taught at Indiana University School of Continuing Education, Bloomington, IN. He was the Past President of the Arkansas City Arts Council. Best know for his landscapes; he paints in a traditional style known as the Hudson River School. In 1997, Mark was selected by Indiana University from a field of 200 applicants to create a 35 foot mural to update and compliment the original murals at the school depicting the school's history from 1820 to 1957.
