A Man, called Thomas Bond

British School

Thomas Bond (b. 1605 - d.1635): a minor actor in the Red Bull Revels and Prince Charles's companies. The sitter is identified in Cartwright's inventory and by an inscription on the verso. The dating for this portraiture spans from the 1590s and then 1625 to 1635, as it could depict a portrait of a man in costume of the 1590s or Bond in historical costume be between twenty to thirty years in age (Bond died aged thirty).
