Bagpipes

On the 16th April 1746, at the Battle of Culloden, John McGregor, the piper to the Duke of Atholl, played these bagpipes as he marched into battle with the Jacobite army. The 18th-century bagpipes are inscribed in Gaelic and English with 'These pipes belonged to John McGregor, piper to the Duke of Atholl, played in the Battles of Prince Charles Stuart's Army in 1745-6.'
