Charles I, The Scottish Rebellion, 1639

In Britain, medals were made to commemorate specific events in a monarch’s reign from the sixteenth-century onwards. Here are medals which mark four defining moments in Charles I’s life, including his marriage, his Scottish coronation, his return to London after his coronation, and the Scottish Rebellions – marking the start of the Bishops Wars. This medal marks the Scottish Rebellions – marking the start of the Bishops Wars.
