Charles I  Regal Organ

John Looseman

A Charles I rare Regal organ by Loosemore on a later stand, the reconstructed case is painted to simulate the marble and Renaissance decoration, painted with the Atholl star and 'I.L.  1630'.

It was bought by the 6th Duke in 1857 and redecorated by Webb that same year. A regal organ is a portable organ that employs reeds and two bellows to create a sound. This type of organ was popular during the Renaissance period in Europe, played at the courts of Kings and Queens.
