Child Doll

Child doll with wax head and limbs and fabric body. England, 2nd half of the 19th century. The doll belonged to Lambros Eftaxias' grandmother, Katingo Machaira, wife of Stamatios Dekozis-Vouros. According to information from Mary Hillier and Margarete Glover (renowned researchers into wax dolls), this wax doll was made by the Marsh family, and had probably been ordered by the Eftaxia family. The Marsh family was renowned for making portrait wax dolls representing children.
