Design for a Gilt Leather Panel

Anonymous, Dutch, 17th century

Design for a gilt leather panel showing an all-over pattern with a wreath in its center. The design can be divided in four parts along the vertical and horizontal axes, and each contains a putto holding flowers and other types of vegetal attributes in their hands. Strewn across the print are other loose motifs from the world of flora and fauna. They appear to have allegorical significance in this pattern, with elements pertaining to the Four Seasons and Four Elements.
