Dignity

This photograph attempts to represent dignity and power both through the protagonist and through forms, such as linear curves, shadows, light and textures. In parallel, the sand-like overall surface evokes vulnerability and resilience, qualities that humans can possess to extraordinary levels too.

"I wanted to retain a certain candidness through both the main sitter and the atmosphere. I imagined what she was thinking of, what she might be looking forward to afterwards, how much she had learnt that day, what she thought of that new knowledge. The light played beautifully on her flawless skin, which made it in a way more challenging to capture. There was a sense of pride and quiet strength in her gaze and the way she held her head."
