Faye Wattleton

Born July 8, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri

Faye Wattleton was the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America from 1978 to 1992, the first woman to head the nation’s largest family planning agency. During the 1960s, she earned degrees in nursing, maternal and infant health care, and midwifery. In 1996 Wattleton was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame. Her autobiography, Life on the Line, was published that same year. She remains a determined advocate of reproductive rights and responsibilities.
