Long arm, muzzle-loading, flintlock rifle.

Provenance Narrative
This rifle likely belonged to the donor's grandfather, Jeremiah O. (O'Brien) Balch (b. 1785, d. 1875). Her father was George Washington Balch (b. 1832), her mother was Mary. Jeremiah O. was married to Elizabeth A. (Haskell)Reverand Benjamin Balch (also called Lieutenant) was married to Joanna O'Brien. The donor, Mary E. Balch Ranney was born September 25, 1865. She married F.T. Ranney. They had no children.
