George Andrews
Available for adoption
Long-time friend of the Wattses and former London police officer, George Andrews (1838-1924) became the indispensable estate steward at Limnerslease. This portrait, painted in the style of George’s ‘Hall of Fame’ series of prominent men of the Victorian age, demonstrates the high esteem that Andrews was held in.
Andrews’ work on the estate extended beyond the care of the land and house. As an accomplished photographer, he documented the daily lives of the Wattses. Many of the archival photographs displayed in this room were taken by Andrews.
