Hand fan (2527.1)

Ivory brisé fan, with fourteen thin blades joined by an off-white silk satin ribbon. The upper guard is carved in high relief in a design of lilies of the valley. The lower guard is exempt of decoration except for two applied ivory initials, C laid over an M. A metal pin joins the blades and as well, an ivory loop. A hook carved of ivory and seven links of a carved ivory chain connect the fan to a chatelaine clip. On the clip is a carved and detailed leaf.
